Paths, Places, and Portals: Charrette Team 8

The Master Plan for Drexel University from 2012 to the Sesquicentennial in 2041, Drexel@150, will focus not only on sites within the existing real estate portfolio to further its master planning goals, but also take advantage of the intellectual capactity and creativity of its students and faculty.  The recently concluded design charrette, Paths, Places, and Portals, yielded a treasure trove of concepts to be incorporated into the 2012 Master Plan.  A series of posts will present the work of the teams.
Team 8 studied 34th Street, which is a major traffic artery for vehicles coming to the Drexel campus and passing through on their way to Penn, but is less intensively used than either 32nd or 33rd Streets for pedestrian access:
Team 8 is comprised of Timothy Purwin, Alexa Forney, Rachael Burke, Hannah Zacarias, Fred Glock, and Zoe Spencer.

  1. I must say, those are some pretty impressive looking concept sketches that I’d love to see implemented before I graduate. Looks like the planning board is on the right track. Make that 24hr coffee shop a Starbucks or Seattle’s Best and I’m sold 😉

    1. Apparently “Sabrina’s — the popular bruncherie with locations in the Italian Market and Franklintown — is taking over the first floor of Ross Commons” according to Monday’s Inquirer.
